about

Always in love with images, Fernanda studied fashion design in Lisbon (CIVEC) and continued that study attending a fashion styling course at Central St. Martins in London. Soon afterwards she began working closely with Portuguese designer Dino Alves, also taking part in several contests and exhibitions such as Expowear (2nd prize), Crespy Trofy (Italy), Sangue Novo (moda Lisboa), Manobras de Maio, and Bienal de Artes da Maia.

In 2002 she began her own label of unique pieces and opened up her own shop in Lisbon. Fernanda also designed window displays for the Megastore in Chiado (Lisbon) and collaborated on several theater and uniform projects.

In 2007, Fernanda presented a collection at the Circuit festival in Lisbon and began selling abroad, while maintaining her work outside more traditional fashion routes collaborating with Line of Style (Fashion Illustration Spanning the Globe-Los Angeles USA), Opera Evolution (a contemporary opera performance in London UK) and ODDSAC (a film by Animal Collective and Danny Perez).

In 2012 she closed her shop in Lisbon, dedicating herself to studying photography (APAF/Lisbon) and changing her method of presenting her work.

Currently Fernanda creates a new label “fern” with the intention of working less traditionally and thinking more freely about fashion. Maintaining her interest in collaboration, she regularly presents small collections of images, clothes or whatever she feels inspired to do! These presentations began with a coat (PERSONALIDADE) for AW13//14 (Palácio Quintela IADE) and 7 dresses for SS14 (DESPERSONALIZAÇÂO), captured in a video (WR/Moda Lisboa).
